Abu Ghraib by Bill Concannon
November 17, 2004
This was Bill's donation to the Academy of Art's faculty auction.
Bill included an image from the back so we (BANG!) could
see how it went together, and how everything was so tightly packed.

David Svensen's work stored at class
November 4, 2004
These items were on the top shelf in the classroom where he teaches.
I have utterly taken these pictues without permission!!
But the items were SO COOL I just couldn't help myself!
David Svensen's work is just magical -- both in artisticly and technically.
He's a madman of welding the tube to the side -- a *very* difficult technique to master.
I [Kiki] will be taking his neon class in the winter session,
and I am excited about learning more about this technique!
Note that the detail in these forms comes from blowing them
into a plaster mold.

Eclectic Electric in Atlanta GA
August 19, 2004
Eclectic Electric is a small galery in Atlanta [my brother drove so I don't know
where it is -- I think East Atlanta].
This plasma art was really amazing! There were three artists there.
These pictures are of two artists, mainly Michael Caine.
I'm afraid I forget the name of the ''wormy globe'' guy -- David Something.
In any case, I furtively took these photos because I was so excited about
the work! I Photoshopped them a bit to give a better sense of what they
were like in person.

The Oaks bar sign -- Oakland
October 23, 2004
This sign is near the corner of 40th and San Pablo [north of
the Pac N Sav, and the hwy 24 overpass]
I just really like the curlies, and it's nice to see how they
were designed.

Murphy's bar and a beer sign
November 4, 2004
Simple designs, but I do like the lettering.
The Carlsberg, in particular, solves some lettering problems uniquely.

Rio in Santa Cruz
October 9, 2004
nice marquee in Santa Cruz.
[Note: the Burning Man film festival was playing,
and Kiki's Burning Man project was one of the films!]

Uranium neon!
June 17, 2003
This is some Uranium glass generously given to BANG by Manu,
who sold us his neon plant.
He raved over the color, but it was difficult to get too excited at
the dull color of the unlit glass....
But when we lit up a pumped piece he gave us, WOW!!!
The pictues, of course, don't do it justice!
