To-scale sketch of bottom bowl in truck
August 14, 2002

Did a quick sketch to make sure that the bottom bowl would fit
into a semi truck!

Allen's supports plans
July 22, 2002

Here's some sketches Allen did of his ideas for the supports.

This is pretty much the turning point of the supports.
[We opted not to have the gussets stick out that much.]

Support sketches
June 21, 2002

Some quick sketches of the supports.

The one I liked turned out to be too 'Edward Gory"...

Marin Ave. [Berkeley/Albany] fountain
June 14, 2002

This fountain is at the head of Marin Ave. off of San Pablo in Albany.
Take Marin Ave. east to the round-about
about 10 blocks.

When I was working on the Cauldron,
this fountain pinpointed what I wanted to do!
It gave me a lot of inspiration!

Egeria firefall copper pendant
June 12, 2002

I woke up with this idea for a pendant.
I did various sketches,
but this final one is what I really want!

I hope to make a metal stamp too,
and maybe banners...

Photos by Kiki.
BTW, the day I drew these up,
a guy randomly stopped in to the ShipYard looking around.
Turns out he's a metal caster, who casts in silver.
He said he'd help me cast the pendant!

Is that trippy or what?!?

Oakland fountain of similar size and design
January 7, 2002

This fountain is in Lakeside Park on Grand Ave in Oakland.

It has only one tier, but that tier looks to be 6'-8'.
There's an upper basin area, where the fountain overflows into,
and there looks to be small square "shelves" where
the water flows out into the lower basin.

The lower basin is about 20' in diameter,
with a low, 1' tall wall around it to contain the water,
and for people to sit and enjoy the fountain.

So you can see, it's very much like what I want to do!

Photos by Kiki.

The outside area is probably 50' diameter

Fountain for sale at Urban Ore
December 15, 2000

Scott found this fountain for sale at Urban Ore for $650.
The bottom tier is only 4.5' across, but the styling is perfect!

It has a number of fissures, so it would never make it over the Reno
pass, if that was what you were thinking! :) [I was. :) ]

More sketches of Egeria
November 29, 2000

Here's some more sketches of various ideas, mostly of the bottom base
bowl. Realizing that a circle might be too difficult to construct, I
sketched some ideas of squares.

Then I realized how I *could* make a circle!

Note the last one -- this will probably be the final fountain!

Here's some sketches of my initial ideas for the Egeria Firefall.

You should see the progression from simple, to complex, back to simple. :)
